Artwork
to dispatch.

Colour separation and engraving both happen here. Nothing changes hands in between, so lead times stay short and no time is lost hunting for the source of a problem.

01 / ARTWORKArtwork intake

When your originals reach us, our team reviews them — printability first — and gives you a lead time. After your approval the design is prepared for engraving.

If you don't have a design

We have designers on staff with art training and experience in engraving and colour separation. They turn what you have in mind into visual work; after your approval it is made ready for engraving.

How to send artwork

  • Via our FTP server
  • By e-mail (info@universalengraving.net)
  • By courier — on CD or as a printout

02 / SEPARATIONColour separation

Colour separation decides production quality, and is carried out by staff trained in engraving using STK 4000 CAD, BEST IMAGE CAD–CAM, ARTPRO and the latest version of Photoshop.

Textile printing separation

Your designs are first filtered technically against printability, then against your plant conditions, paste system and machine line-up. Within those constraints they are made ready for engraving using STK 4000 CAD, BEST IMAGE CAD and Photoshop. Once separation is complete the mesh is set and the job moves to the production line.

Setting the mesh

Once separation is complete, the mesh is set according to the character of the design and your printing conditions. We work between 25 and 195 mesh; the choice balances retained fine detail against paste transfer.

If you have no artwork

We have designers on staff with art training and experience in engraving and colour separation. They turn your brief into visual work; after your approval it is prepared for engraving.

03 / ENGRAVINGProduction and laser engraving

Designs separated and prepared in our design department go into production on our Stork laser engravers — STK LEN-3000 and STK BESTLEN-5113.

Screens move to the right laser line once mesh and lacquer preparation is complete, at repeats of 640, 720, 810, 920 or 1010 mm and lengths of 1450, 1980, 2650, 3000 or 3500 mm.

Tooling prepared during production goes through a final check before packing.

04 / APPROVALCustomer approval

Before production begins we put the work in front of you. Approval happens one of three ways:

  • Over the internet, via our FTP server and e-mail
  • By courier, on CD or as a printout

We don't start a production run without approval. This catches tooling that would not match your substrate before it is made.

05 / DISPATCHPacking and delivery

We think good engraving deserves good packing. Screens of different circumferences and lengths get packing that varies with shipment volume.

Packing is prepared with the transport conditions of your shipment in mind — safe to carry, low cost, and consistent with fast delivery.

Depending on the volume of your shipment we work with courier companies or freight forwarders.

Send us the dimensions, we'll send the price.

Industry, material and size are enough. No artwork needed at the quotation stage.
