Common questions
Before you ask for a quote.
These are the questions we are asked most often. If your answer is not here, write to us directly.
What repeat and length sizes do you produce?
Our repeats are 640, 720, 810, 920 and 1010 mm, and screen lengths are 1450, 1980, 2650, 3000 and 3500 mm. If you need something outside these, ask first and we will check feasibility.
What is your mesh range?
We work between 25 and 195 mesh. Which mesh suits depends on the character of the design, your paste system and your printing substrate — we decide it together during colour separation.
Do you handle colour separation, or should I send files ready?
Colour separation is done in house, never outsourced. We use STK 4000 CAD, BEST IMAGE CAD and Photoshop. Keeping separation and engraving under one roof shortens lead times and makes problems quicker to trace.
I do not have artwork. Do you design as well?
Yes. We have designers on staff with art training and experience in engraving and colour separation. They turn your brief into visual work; after your approval it is prepared for engraving.
How do I send artwork files?
Three ways: via our FTP server, by e-mail (info@universalengraving.net), or by courier on CD or as a printout. Contact our sales team for FTP access details.
Are screens delivered with end rings?
Either way, as you prefer. With end rings the screen arrives fitted and ready for the machine. Packing is sized to circumference and length.
What are your lead times?
Lead time depends on quantity, how complex the design is, and current load on the line. Once you send the size and quantity we give a firm date; on urgent jobs we run 7/24.
Do you supply lacquered screens as well?
Yes. Alongside our range of screen types we produce lacquered screens. The lacquer is prepared to suit the character of the design before engraving.
What do I need to send to get a quote?
No artwork is needed. Industry, material and circumference/width are enough. If you do not have those, the make and model of your printing machine is a starting point. We reply the same day.
